FAQ’s
Admissions and Transition
All admissions to Alfriston school come to us from the Local Authority, Buckinghamshire County Council.
Pupils are offered a transition programme prior to School Transition Day which typically comprises of two visits to Alfriston School with their parents / carers. In July we take part in the county-wide School Transition Day. This day allows pupils transitioning from Year 6 to Year 7 to experience a range of activities with their new peers and to meet members of staff prior to starting in September.
Students are also offered an in-depth induction upon their entry in the Autumn Term.
For more information on admissions and transitions, please see our Admissions page.

Support for Students
Each year group is split into two separate Pastoral groups. Pupils are placed in mixed ability groups led by a Pastoral Tutor and Support Tutor. The Pastoral programme helps pupils to prepare for the day ahead. They are encouraged to build relationships and have more informal conversations within their pastoral group. These twice daily touch-points also allow pupils to regulate and discuss any issues or concerns with a trusted adult. Pastoral meetings for teaching and support staff are held weekly to discuss any issues concerning pupils and identify how these can be addressed.
For more information on how we support our students with their individual needs, please see our SEN Provision page.
