Alfriston Ski Trip 2024

At Alfriston, pupils are offered many opportunities to take part in a variety of educational trips and visits which take place both locally and further afield. All trips and visits support the curriculum and offer pupils opportunities to develop their self-esteem, social, moral, cultural, and physical abilities.

Trips and off-site visits are a normal part of the curriculum at Alfriston, and students regularly go on trips within the Local Learning Area, which for Alfriston is within the county of Buckinghamshire.

These trips take place during normal school hours and follow the school operating procedure. Parent’s will be asked to complete a “Consent to Local Off-Site Visits and Medical Treatment Form” for participation in these activities when their child is admitted to the school.

Trips outside of the Local Learning Area, or outside of school hours, require parental consent. Consent will also be requested for activities that need a higher level of risk management, such as visits that are adventurous, residential, and overseas.

We understand that visits are often challenging for the pupils. Every visit is planned with meticulous attention to the safety and comfort of each individual pupil. Parents are informed in advance of the details of the trip and the itinerary, prior to be asking for consent.

Only staff who have been assessed as suitably qualified and experienced are approved to supervise groups in a new environment. All trips are recorded on the school’s trip management system, Evolve.

Visits are monitored by the School’s Educational Visits Co-ordinator, the Head and the Governors. In addition, residential and adventurous activities are vetted and monitored by Buckinghamshire Council Offsite Visits Advisors.
