Celebrating the Achievements of Our Former Pupils
At Alfriston School, we believe every student has the potential to thrive. Our alumni are proof of the confidence, independence, and skills nurtured and developed during their time here. From hospitality to healthcare, education to sport, our former pupils continue to make us proud.
Alumni Spotlights
Gee – From Sports Captain to Support Teacher
Gee left Alfriston at the age of 16 and quickly began building a career in sports. She became a lifeguard and studied sports management where she completed her NVQ City & Guilds, achieving A-level standard in all of her qualifications. Her passion for swimming grew, leading her to teach children of all ages and eventually return to Alfriston where she now works full-time as a Support Assistant, inspiring students daily with her story and dedication. Another one of Gee’s sporting passions was football, which she played semi-professionally only retiring a few years ago. On top of her busy and successful career, Gee is a proud mum to three children – one of whom has Special Education Needs themselves.
Amy – Finding Confidence and Independence
After struggling in mainstream education feeling isolated and spending lots of time working away from her classmates, Amy joined Alfriston School in Year 9. She found comfort at Alfriston amongst her peers in the smaller class sizes and enjoyed creative activities in lessons, like block printing and learning to sew. Amy found that while studying at Alfriston her creativity and independence were able to blossom. After leaving, she completed a Supported Internship gaining work experience at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, which she would travel to and from independently using trains and buses. We are so proud to know that Amy feels empowered by the skills she developed and strengthened at school.
Bea – Building a Career in Hospitality
Bea attended Alfriston from 2010 to 2017. She loved Home Economics and Boarding life, which helped her develop her independence and strengthened her friendships with her flatmates. After school, she studied at Foxes Academy and completed a Supported Internship at a hotel. Bea now enjoys a rewarding career at The Ivy restaurant and lives independently in her own flat.
