Santa Dash

Santa Dash On Friday 8th December, the whole school took part in the annual Santa Dash following on from the Christmas Fayre festivities. The girls wore their house colours and each lap they completed earned them a house point for the house. Their enthusiasm and Christmas cheer was catching – fantastic participation from staff and pupils! The results for the winning house will be revealed in the end of term assembly.

Staffing Updates for the Spring Term We have some changes within our staffing here at Alfriston for the Spring term, we are pleased to welcome back Ms Owusu after maternity leave. News from Post 16 The Post 16 students have had an action-packed term full of Community Engagement placements at the likes of Wycombe Food Hub, The Ark Café, Age UK and Beaconsfield Heights Care Home, Community Network sessions at Bury Lodge, Lady Ryder Garden, One Can Trust, Great Missenden Primary School and the Walled Garden, Work Experience placements, College link courses and not to mention weekly Social Enterprise, Home Management, PE and other academic lessons. Students Shine in Drama and Filming Collaboration In an exciting teamwork project, drama students, led by Mr. Fox, created two funny silent movie-style scenes. Meanwhile, Mrs. Denham’s filming group filmed and edited the project with skill. Ms. Devlin provided great support. Ms. Holmes from Stony Dean School brought along six students to join in the collaboration. The result was a cool blend of drama and film, showcasing the students’ talents. The collaboration demonstrated excellent teamwork and social skills from both groups, making it a fantastic learning experience for everyone involved.

Upgrades to Alfriston School Site

Upgrades to the Alfriston School Site Throughout the busy term the school site has undergone many developments to enhance the building and surrounding features. The main buildings have had energy improvements to increase the efficiency of the heating and been re-decorated inside and out. You may have also noticed the new black gates that were installed from the start of term to improve security measures to the whole school site. Christmas Card Competition As you know, each year at Alfriston we have a school Christmas Card printed for staff, students and their friends and families to buy at the Christmas Fair. The design on the front of the card shows the winning entry from our annual Christmas card competition. Each year we have lots of girls enter with creative ideas. This year the winning design was created by Sienna Dancer in 7B. A big well done to her for her geometric design.

Work Related Learning

Work Related Learning Year 10 and 11 have thoroughly enjoyed their weekly Work-Related Learning lessons this term. Year 10 have either participated in the Arts Award which takes the pupils on a creative journey whilst encouraging them to become actively involved in researching and experiencing new art forms; explored differnt options for their future by visiting, researching and experiencing different organisations and roles or have been engaged in Environmental Studies projects in the school garden and community allotments. West Wycombe Panto

West Wycombe Panto In Work Related Learning, the pupils helped to design the set and staging for the cast performing in the pantomime in West Wycombe. With support from Mrs Blackburn, Mrs Thatcher and Ms Lewis, all of the handmade props and back drops were created and delivered to the set. The pupils were allowed to meet the cast back stage and get a real taste for what happens behind the scenes throughout a production.
