Bucks Youth Summit

Bucks Youth Summit

On the 11th March 9 students from our school from  years 10-13 attended the 2024 Bucks Youth Summit in Aylesbury.  The Summit happened for the first time last year and was such a success Bucks Youth Voice were allowed to run it again.

32 mainstream schools attended along with Alfriston and each students took part in 4 different conversation spaces of their choice during the day.

The conversation spaces were based around the main areas of interest and issues for the youth of Bucks and our students chose from the following topics

  • The LGBTQ+ Space
  • The SEND Space
  • The Mental Health Space
  • The Green Space
  • The Political Space
  • Sex Education: Do Better
  • The Vape Space
  • Cost of Living Crisis
  • The Creative Corner
  • Relationships with the Police.

The feedback about the input and ideas from our students from the young people who facilitated the spaces was they had some excellent ideas and suggestions and some said our students taught them some new things!

Although they were tired afterwards they all said they had a wonderful day and were really happy their views and voices had been heard.   The views of those attending the day will be shared with Buckinghamshire council and will help to shape future plans and policies for young people in Bucks.
