News from Post 16

The Post 16 students have had an action-packed term full of Community Engagement placements at the likes of Wycombe Food Hub, The Ark Café, Age UK and Beaconsfield Heights Care Home, Community Network sessions at Bury Lodge, Lady Ryder Garden, One Can Trust, Great Missenden Primary School and the Walled Garden, Work Experience placements, College link courses and not to mention weekly Social Enterprise, Home Management, PE and other academic lessons.

Monday afternoons have seen the students involved in Dance workshops, Yoga sessions and Art lessons where they have continued to develop their resilience, risk taking, team work and social interaction skills. These sessions have allowed the students to develop new interests which some may continue to explore after their time at Alfristion.

The term commenced with the Year 12 students engaged in a week on the very worthwhile NCS Programme ran by Action4Youth including a day of Outdoor and Adventurous Activities at Green Park where they explored activities such as Archery and Climbing. The whole of Post 16 then set off to High Wycombe where they shared a very festive and enjoyable day of Christmas Shopping and Bowling.

Pastoral staff have been extremely impressed with how the Year 12 cohort have settled into the routine of being in Post 16 and the mature and independent manner in which they continue to conduct themselves. The Year 13 students have been fantastic roles models and have led by example showing their peers great support and guidance throughout the term. We are very proud of them all and wish each student and their families a very happy and restful Christmas.
