Year 8 Residential

On Thursday 2nd December excitement was in the air as our Year 8s arrived at school for their first ever residential!

They spent their morning making and decorating gingerbread with Miss Leahy, creating Christmas decorations with Mrs Holmes, and dancing their festive socks off with Miss Hines. It was smiles all round and we’d only just started!

After lunch, we went off-site to visit Waddesdon Manor. There was so much to see, and the girls loved being able to decide how they wanted to spend their time in their groups. We enjoyed walking round the large Christmas market, buying hot chocolates, seeing the winter lights display and exploring the grounds of the manor. Whilst we were there, we had many positive comments from the Waddesdon staff and stallholders to compliment the students’ fantastic behaviour and manners.

After a wonderful afternoon, we headed back to school for a lovely warm dinner, kindly prepared by Miss Stone. The girls were so excited to head up to boarding and unpack their night bags with their friends. Our staff were so impressed by the level of independence that all the students showed when getting ready for bed, they were so helpful, supportive and respectful of their peers.

The next morning, after breakfast, we had fun taking part in a game session with Miss Cook before going to the Christmas Bazaar. Everyone loved looking at the different stalls and having the freedom to spend their money as they wished!

Later that day, we had another session with Miss Cook, where she tested our Christmas knowledge with an entertaining Kahoot quiz! To finish off the day, we settled down in the boarding common room to watch a classic festive film, The Polar Express. Complete with a cinema screen, comfy chairs and popcorn, this made a delightful end to the Year 8 residential.
