On a Monday three of us go to Aylesbury BCG Link courses for the day. We go to the college on a Monday so we can build our independence and confidence up for when we go to college next year and it helps us see how different college is to school.
In college we don’t have a bell to say when the lesson is over. Also at a lunchtime in college we can go out to town and get lunch but at school we bring lunch in or we get it from Mr Clawson. I think school is calmer and I do enjoy how there is a routine to lunch at school. However at college I like it where we get the trust and it helps us become more independent at helping us getting used to adulthood.
Some of us get the bus to Aylesbury bus station then it is about a 10 minute walk from the bus station to the collage. I get to the college by one of my family members.
At college we do different lessons on life skills. At 9 to 10:30 we do our first lesson that is employabilty. Then 10:30 till 11:00 we have a break in this time we normally go and get something from the canteen and sit down and chat to each other. 11:00 to 12:15 is our next lesson that is normally employabilty. At 12:15 to 13:15 is lunch and at lunchtime you can go out to town to get lunch or you can stay at college and have your own lunch or you can go to the canteen and buy something for lunch. A group of us normally goes out and gets a drink from a café. At 13:15 to 14:30 we do English. Then at 14:30 we go home.
I have learnt how to write a CV, my skills and qualities I have, the different types of text and I have also done some cooking we have learnt how to be safe in a kitchen.
I think college has helped us with our independence, confidence and has helped us deal with change.
