I hope you are all well.
Last week we welcomed back a few pupils from each year group as the start of putting our phased re-opening plan into action. This went well, and although some of the girls were a little anxious at first, they soon settled into the new arrangements and seemed very happy to be back in school. Social distance is tricky, as their natural draw to one another is strong; however, increased hygiene practise, staggered timetables and restriction on pupil group sizes all help to reduce the risk.
In light of this success, we intend to open our offer further to allow some of those who are currently on the waiting list to join with their year group bubble for one day a week, and to divide that bubble into smaller teaching groups in order to maintain our precautionary measures. Currently, we have sufficient staff to allow for this, but will continue to need to restrict numbers due to room sizes and staffing capacity.
We are continuing to provide home learning, but as more staff are needing to be in school for longer periods the pressure on workload is growing. Those staff working from home are taking on more of this responsibility and we hope to maintain this service until most pupils are back in school which is likely to be September at the earliest. We will not be opening over the Summer holiday period, to give staff a well-earned break and a chance for recoupment before the new Academic year.
It is with great regret that we have had to cancel all our planned events and end of term celebrations, but I’m hopeful that we can make up for some of this next year. Meanwhile, the new performing arts building is nearing completion, and next year the girls will be enjoying their dance, drama and music lessons in a brand new, beautiful and inspiring environment.
With kind regards,
